Rescuers find body of man after mountain search

A man has died on England’s highest mountain.
The body of the 19-year-old from the Matlock area in Derbyshire was found by mountain rescuers on Scafell Pike at about 11.45am today, Saturday.

Navy rescue crew braves 'worst conditions' in flight to save walker

The crew of a Royal Navy rescue helicopter described a hair-raising flight in a blizzard in which they plucked an injured walker from a Highland munro.
The pilot and his colleagues from HMS Gannet in Ayrshire had to guide the aircraft to the stricken walker on Beinn Sgulaird in total darkness and swirling blizzards.

The new owners of a Clydeside indoor ski slope have pledged to set up an ice-climbing wall and improve the facilities.
The Ice Factor has taken over the SNO!zone at Xscape in Renfrewshire and says it will invest in the £32m facility, said to be the longest indoor ski slope in Britain.

A charity that organises Three Peaks Challenge events has funded the installation of remote cameras around Britain’s highest mountain to capture images of elusive wildlife.
The equipment being used by Highland Council and John Muir Trust staff in Glen Nevis and have caught a variety of Scottish wildlife on camera, including pine marten, badger.....

The bothy lies north of Ben Alder, south-west of Dalwhinne, at grid reference NN 523 762. Walkers and outdoor enthusiasts planning to use a bothy on a Highland estate are being warned it could be cramped after one room was left unusable by storm damage.
